| A MESSAGE FROM SPIRAL STAIRS
OF PRESTON SCHOOL OF INDUSTRY |
Hello there. For quite a while, all has
been quiet on the PSOI front... until now! A new record is
in the works (hopefully done by the end of spring), a new
website is on the way (still working on it), and, most exciting
of all, we're playing shows again! We've been asked to support
the Posies on their 20th anniversary show in Seattle on May
17th. We still like the Posies very much, even if the drummer
IS a Rush fan. We're also playing a bunch of new songs as
well as some old family favorites. If you're up in the Northwest,
come on out.
I've also been asked to be a guest curator for the Sled
Island Music Festival up in Calgary, Alberta from June
25th through the 28th. I'm very excited about this! I've picked
a few of my favorite bands, old and new, to play. PSOI will
be performing, too, but what is really gonna be special is
that we're doing a collaboration with the lads in Broken Social
Scene. Most of it will be new material made up just for Sled
Island!
Okay, thanks for listening. See you soon!

| NEKO CASE INJURED, LEAVING NEW
PORNOGRAPHERS TOUR |
Hello Friends,
We have some very unfortunate news to report. Neko had a really
bad fall in Washington, DC and it resulted in a fractured
ankle which is forcing her to leave our tour today. She was
really trying to be a trooper and stayed on as long as was
possible (through Richmond and Athens), but it has come to
the point where she must return home and seek medical treatment
and rest. She's very upset about having to leave. It's been
super fun having her on stage and around the bus.
Nashville, St. Louis, Chicago, Madison, and Cleveland, we
hope you understand. The rest of us will just have to play
that much harder and put on the best show possible.
Aside from Neko's fall, this has been a SUPER great tour for
us. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has come
out so far or bought tickets for the remaining shows.
All the best,
TNP |

| THE BILLIONS CORPORATION AND AERO BOOKING
ANNOUNCE MERGER |
The Billions Corporation and Aero Booking
announce the merger of the two internationally recognized independent
booking agencies representing some of today’s most acclaimed
musical artists. As of June 1, 2008, the companies will begin
operations as one organization with primary offices in both
Chicago and Seattle and a total of seven agents.
Chicago-headquartered Billions, with existing agents also based
in Seattle, WA and Bloomington, IN, is celebrating its twentieth
year of operation. Among its exclusive clients are The Arcade
Fire, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Sufjan Stevens, Vampire Weekend,
Neko Case, Silversun Pickups and Oscar-winning duo The Swell
Season.
Seattle-based Aero Booking, in its tenth year, exclusively represents,
among others, platinum-selling Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal
Service, David Bazan, Midlake, Beach House, Bodies of Water
and Bowerbirds.
Aero founder and owner Trey Many explains, "Throughout
the ten years that I've spent building Aero Booking, I've been
an admirer of the way Billions does business. The more I've
come to know the people in their organization, the clearer it
has become to me that we need to work together. We are very
excited to merge our company with theirs and to collaborate
in an official capacity."
Billions founder and president David T. Viecelli adds, “We
are positively thrilled to welcome Trey and Andrew to our family.
The forthright and honest nature of Trey’s personal commitment
to his artists has always placed him among the very best agents
working today. I’m proud that he has recognized a similar
approach and creative energy in our company and chosen to join
us. We are all the better for it.”
While the merger will not be effective until June 1, 2008, Aero
Booking will move into the new Billions offices in Seattle in
May while continuing to do business as a separate entity until
that effective date. As of June 1, Trey Many can be reached
at 312-997-9999 and via email at trey(at)billions.com. Current
Aero agent/assistant Andrew Morgan will be available at the
same Chicago number and via email at andrew(at)billions.com.

| JON LANGFORD PREMIERES NEW MUSICAL |
Jon Langford, a founding
member of the legendary British punk rock collective The
Mekons, and lead singer with Chicago band The
Waco Brothers, will premiere a reading of his latest
music/theater project All The Fame of Lofty Deeds this
month. Written by Chicago playwright and rock journalist Mark
Guarino, based on the art and music of Jon Langford and featuring
live music by Jon Langford, the work will be presented at 7:00
PM on March 24, 2008 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater
at 2433 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. The performance is
free of charge but ONLY 60 SEATS ARE AVAILABLE on a first come-first
served basis. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to Will Rogers
at wrogers@victorygardens.org
or 773-549-5788 as soon as possible. All The Fame
of Lofty Deeds traces the ascent of a wide-eyed young country
singer from rural obscurity to tinsel-town opulence during the
middle decades of the last century. His life parallels the optimism,
grandeur, betrayals and despair of the country and culture that
spawned him (and which eventually suck him dry). Lofty wants
it all and gets a little more, climbs the showbiz beanstalk,
sacks his band and steals a gulp from the poison cup before
sinking back into the dirt and darkness from whence he came.
Take advantage of this opportunity to follow the progress of
an exciting new work and learn how such projects are developed.
After this initial reading, Victory Gardens Theater will present
a full workshop performance of All The Fame of Lofty Deeds
in April featuring a live band and an exhibition of Jon Langford's
artwork. Stay tuned for more details. Learn more at www.victorygardens.org.

| BON IVER DEBUTS IN BILLBOARD
TOP 200 |
Bon Iver’s stunning debut album,
For Emma, Forever Ago, had the humblest of beginnings.
Secluded for long winter months in a Northwestern Wisconsin
cabin, Justin Vernon filled his days splitting wood for warmth
and hunting deer for food while writing and recording what would
become a masterful work of music. Despite Justin’s complete
detachment from thoughts of commercial release, live performance,
reviews and chart positions, out of those wintry woods came
what the New York Times calls “irresistible,” Stereogum
dubs “astounding,” and Pitchfork branded with the
Recommended tag. Now, with the record’s official release
on Jagjaguwar, real music fans are responding in droves, landing
the album in Billboard’s Top 200 in its debut week.
For Emma, Forever Ago is a sonic gem, an album
of constant revelation that offers ever-greater rewards on repeated
spins. Despite that, the full emotional impact of Bon Iver’s
songs can only be felt in the experience of live performance
and so it is the shows that, above all else, are fueling the
wildfire word-of-mouth. Find Justin and the band on the road
now with Jagjaguwar labelmates Black Mountain, in Austin for
a handful of performances during SXSW, and on the West Coast
and through the Midwest this spring. All available dates can
be found on Bon Iver’s page here at Billions Online. |

We couldn’t be more pleased with how
well things are going in the Liam Finn camp. Landing in the
US last weekend, Liam jump-started his US touring with a sold-out

on February 27 (supporting Pela) and includes Liam’s US
network television debut on CBS’ The Late Show with David
Letterman on Thursday, February 28.
Liam will also be performing a number of times at South By Southwest
in Austin, TX in mid-March, including on one of our Billions
showcases at the Ale House on Thursday, March 13. After that,
Liam will join forces with Billions client Miracle Fortress
and The Most Serene Republic for a brief east coast tour before
heading west to support Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder on his
first-ever solo tour in April. Liam was hand-picked by Vedder
as sole support on this limited and very special theatrical
run on the west coast. In May, he will support Billions client
Laura Veirs on a cross-country trek of highly anticipated dates.

Bulat. Appearing here on Rough Trade through Beggar’s

In the meantime, check out some of the press from the UK and
Canada: "[T]here's an epic sparkle to the likes
of I Was A Daughter, Bulat's future looks bright indeed."
-Simon Goddard Q (UK) **** "...when
the swaying, empty-ballroom drama of Little Waltz and misty,
violin-drenched December follow, you begin to realize how many
moods and genres Bulat has successfully led her band through."
-Jason Keller NOW "Oh My
Darling is an enchanting collection of songs featuring Bulat's
breathy vibrato set like a jewel into organic arrangements"
-Andy Gill The Independent (UK) ****
"The Ontario-based singer's gorgeous debut is an old
fashioned delight, full of waltzing rythms, twinkling piano
and delicate strings, topped off with a voice so warm it barely
needs accompaniment...a low key gem that should not be overlooked."
-David Smyth London Evening Standard (UK) **** |

| BILLIONS WELCOMES THE HEAVY |
It is with great pleasure that we welcome
The Heavy and their brand of “dirty,
guitar-soaked, hip-hop soul” to the Billions roster. Hailing
from the poor, insular and dark English countryside surrounding
Bath, UK (a seemingly unlikely place to spawn such a band),
The Heavy are creating matchless grooves dissimilar to everything
else happening right now. Described by Rolling Stone as “...as
funky as Amy Winehouse or Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings but
with just a little more fuzz...” and self-described as
heavy as f*ck, The Heavy are the “baddest”
soul band around.
Their debut full-length, Great Vengeance and Furious Fire, will
be released by Counter Records in conjunction with the newly
launched +1 Records on April 8. The Heavy will embark upon their
first US tour this spring, beginning at SXSW in Austin and continuing
with a tour of major markets (including New York, Los Angeles,
San Francisco and Chicago) in May.
Stay tuned to Billions Online for more details and exciting
news about The Heavy. |

| NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS TO
HEADLINE 2008 PLUG AWARDS |
The PLUG Independent Music Awards will be
headlined by the legendary Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. This
year’s show, taking place at Terminal 5 in New York on
March 6, will see the esteemed band join previously announced
performers St. Vincent and Jose Gonzalez and host Patton Oswalt.
PLUG co-founder Gerry Hart says, "Having Nick Cave and
the Bad Seeds perform at PLUG has been a dream of ours since
Amaechi (Uzoigwe, co-founder) and I started PLUG." Additionally,
seminal U.K.-based rapper and Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal
has also been confirmed to perform.
The PLUG AWARDS were founded to highlight outstanding accomplishments
within the independent music community, and has been exemplified
by (Australian Recording Industry Award Hall of Fame inductee)
Nick Cave’s rich history and influence upon the music
landscape. In addition to performing, Cave will accept the 2008
PLUG Impact Award which honors his influence on the independent
music community through his exceptional work and career. Last
year’s Impact Award was presented to Stephen Malkmus (Pavement,
Silver Jews and his solo career with and without the Jicks).
The appearance by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds coincides with
the release of the band’s fourteenth studio album Dig,
Lazarus, Dig!!!, out April 8 in the US on ANTI- Records.
The set has Cave recording most of the songs on organ as opposed
to his usual piano, Warren Ellis playing guitar, twelve-string
lute and electric mandolin, Mick Harvey on guitar, Thomas Wydler
on drums and percussion, Martyn Casey on bass, Conway Savage
on piano and vocals, Jim Sclavunos on drums, percussion and
vocals and James Johnston on guitar and organ. Dig, Lazarus,
Dig!!! follows Cave’s 2007 debut self-titled album
with his band Grinderman, which has received 2008 PLUG nominations
for Song of the Year ("No Pussy Blues”) and Album
Art/Packaging of the Year. Cave has also received a nod as Male
Artist of the Year. |
