Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) is Named 2009 Honorary Chair for AIDS Walk Wisconsin
AIDS Walk Wisconsin has announced Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon as its 2009 Honorary Chair. Vernon will perform a brief acoustic set and address the walkers (estimated over 5,000) at the opening ceremony in Milwaukee on October 11th.
Vernon said in a press release, “I am pleased that my music can help AIDS Walk Wisconsin raise funds for the fight against AIDS and I am proud to serve as its Honorary Chair,” said Justin Vernon, whose stage name is Bon Iver. “AIDS is a life threatening disease affecting millions of people all over the world, including thousands right here at home in Wisconsin.”
“The enthusiasm for Bon Iver and the passion he brings to the fight against AIDS are a tremendous help as we raise funds to assure health care for all HIV patients, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Doug Nelson, CEO of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin.
